Bojangles KIDS Songwriting Workshop

Led by the wonderful Katie Rushing

Sunday, April 22, 2026

Bojangles Heights (313 Lilac St., 77009)

1 - 2:30 p.m. || kinder - 4th grade

Everyone has a story to tell. No matter how old––or young––you are.

WHO: Songwriters at any level, ages 6+

The Bojangles Songwriting Workshop for KIDS is open to current Bojangles students as well as the general public.

WHY: Kids, have you ever asked––or thought to yourself––something like this?

How do I start writing a song?

How do I find inspiration?

Is there a formula to follow?

What do I do if I have part of a song, but not the whole song?

I can hear it but I can’t sing it…what now?

I can play it but I don’t have words…what now?

I feel like I have something to say, but I need some help finding it.

I’ve never written a song. I’m nervous. But I think maybe I could do it...?

…Maybe, you’re just curious about how this songwriting stuff works.

(Or maybe, your parents signed you up for this workshop!)

HOW: In this workshop, Katie will creatively lead you through a process involving in-the-moment application to discover how you can bring your words to life through music.

There will be some discussion, mostly doing, and your questions will be answered!

KIDS, WE PROMISE:

+ You will gain access to your own unique strengths as a songwriter.

+ You will walk away with new tools in your musical tool belt that will be available to you for the rest of your life as a musician and songwriter.

+ You will have fun!

No time like the present! The world needs to hear what you have to say.

WHAT DO I BRING?

Your instrument of choice, if you have it––guitar, ukulele, etc.

If you play keys, drums, or something that’s immobile, we’ve got you covered.

WHAT IF I DON’T PLAY AN INSTRUMENT?

Don’t worry! This is not required.

COST

$100**

**If cost is an issue, please reach out privately to Liz so we can work it out. Thank you!
