+ Lead us through practical songwriting exercises;

+ Explain parts of his own creative processes;

+ Give us strategies to avoid fear and creative stagnation;

+ Answer all kinds of questions!

The Bojangles INTRO to Songwriting Workshop is open to current and past Bojangles students, as well as the general public.

About Sergio Trevino

As front man for bands including Buxton and Ancient Cat Society, Sergio Trevino has taken his Houston-grown indie folk-pop everywhere. Sergio echoes Paul Simon’s literary eloquence and the Everly Brothers’ sweet pining, but his voice is very much his own. Empathetic and sly, he’ll break your heart and make you laugh, sometimes in the same verse. Then, there’s his innate understanding of melody––and how to teach the rest of us about it.

FAQs

Do I need to play an instrument?

No! If you play a guitar (or ukulele, mandolin, whatever it is!), please feel free to bring it. If you aren’t playing yet, don’t worry––it’s not required.

Do I need to have any songs written prior to the class?

No! We’re all here to learn and get started together. Some participants have written hundreds of songs, while others haven’t written any.

Should I bring something to write with?

Yes! Bring a pad and pencil or pen––or your laptop.
